Oh, those countertops look fantastic. I can feel myself turning green with envy!

I appreciate this prompt because I've been spending a lot of time lately grumbling about the things I don't like about our current kitchen, but TBH it's a big improvement over our previous homes.

I like that it's big enough for 2 people to be in at the same time. I like that it's a discrete space instead of just a combo w/ hallway to the garage + utility closet. I like that it has a little built-in pantry-cupboard.

Those countertops are GORGEOUS! I like that in my galley kitchen the stove, sink, and fridge actually are in a work triangle that makes everything easy to access. Now if there are two or more people in the kitchen using any of those appliances, they could bend over and bump butts 😂 but if it’s just me it’s great.

Your countertops are soooo cool! What I like best in my big Arizona kitchen? That my little writing desk has now taken over the old breakfast nook so I can write about food right where I make it!

And my favorite thing about my tiny Maine kitchen is the magic I make cooking with my mom’s ghost.

Thank you Amie! I love both of your favorite things! How wonderful to split your time between both places!

With a renovation about 7 years ago we took out a small peninsula of counter that had overhead cabinets I hated and replaced it with a double-width countertop of wood block. Not only fabulous work space for lots of projects, it doubles as a place to sit with a couple of stools on one side. I love that so very much!

That sounds fantastic! The double-width size must be so useful!

I love my 8 foot island/breakfast bar. It has deep drawers for pots and pans, four shelves that pull out to me, and 3 shallow drawers to hold kitchen gadgets, spices and knickknacks. It has so much more storage than the precious one. I do all my meal prep on it, baking and eating meals.

The favourite thing about my kitchen is not ‘the kitchen’, but the way my dog has figured out how to lie in the exact same place every time I am cooking. I do have to step over or around him, BUT…He leaves just enough space so that you can fully open (and access) the oven door, and freezer door without him having to move a muscle.

Your renovation looks lovely, I agree the counters you chose are stunners!

That's hilarious! My dog does the same thing. It is helpful when I drop stuff on the floor though 😂

When we built our house I chose large drawers rather than shelved cabinets in all the base units and it was the best decision I made! It is so much easier to get to post and pans, but also I love having my china sets stacked at a lower level. I keep the dishes separated and in order with moveable pegs. Again, it is my favorite part of the kitchen!

We remodeled the kitchen in the home we raised our kids in and did the same thing. I absolutely loved those drawers!

I also have nice big drawers for pots and pans after a remodel 7 or 8 years ago, SUCH a huge improvement over shelves. And most of my drawers are nice and deep to store such a range of things with easy access.

I love the window over my sink; I can see whatever is going on in my yard or if anyone is coming to our front door. I just can't imagine people wash dishes or do whatever at their sink while facing a wall!

I agree with you! We raised our kids in a house with huge windows behind the kitchen sink and I loved it so much!

I love the cupboard doors in my kitchen. They were hand crafted by my dad in 1984. He passed away in 1994. If I ever move they are coming with me.

Gorgeous counter tops Rebecca!!

For me, it's my island/breakfast bar. I had always wanted one and it's part of the reason we bought our house.

It is the hub of my home, my family and guests always congregate around it. It's where I bake with my children, or decorate my cakes.

The children will play games of chase or hide and seek around it, and in the mornings, as I drink my coffee, I always feel a lovely moment of contentment - watching their two golden little heads as they eat their toast or porridge.

It's also a gorgeous white marble and excellent for tempering chocolate on!

We just finished our kitchen a few months ago! Our cabinet doors are made from pallet wood and I love how they turned out. But what I love the most is our gas stove and gas oven, we weren't initially going to buy such an expensive item but in the end decided to do it - and it's such a good one, I love it so much. Because we live off the grid we thought an oven wouldn't be possible, so the fact we now have one is something I'm very happy with 😁

How wonderful to get a beautiful new oven when you thought you wouldn't be able to have one at all! I'd guess that it's going to get plenty of good use over the years!

Love the countertops! Our kitchen really needs new everything, counters, floors, cupboards. So currently the most favorite thing would be our relatively new Bosch dishwasher. I never had such a quiet, will thought out design, most effective one we've ever owned. And yes, it has an app for it.

I love that! I haven't had a dishwasher in years, so if I had one like that, it would also be my favorite thing! :-)

Your counters are so pretty!! In my kitchen I love the flow, how it leads into an eat in area and from there to our family room. It’s a great gathering space and an efficient work space.

Thank you! The whole space has come together so beautifully. I can't wait to share more photos of the finished space! The flow of a space is so important, isn't it??? We just moved the position of our kitchen table and it's a small change but the flow of the entire space is more natural and efficient.

I love the eat-in area and the 8x12 pantry adjoining. There are a lot of cabinets - but still not enough for all the appliances, utensils, pots, pans, cast iron and Dutch ovens that live there. I am afraid to contemplate over how many years I have promised myself I would downsize my collections - and it still hasn't happened. I may have to do a remodel for inspiration!
