For any of you who are new here, a quick introduction: I’m Rebecca. I write these weekly discussion posts as well as a Substack newsletter and for the past 5 years, my husband and I have been living in an RV and traveling around the U.S.
This week we parked ourselves on the property of friends and started on some major renovation and repair projects. One of the projects is replacing the floor. We began in the bedroom and bathroom which we finished last night. Today, we’ll move everything back into our bedroom and clear the way to replace the floor in the main living area.

And THEN, we are putting espresso stained butcher block countertops in the kitchen and friends, I am so excited about this I can hardly contain myself. I’ve been wanting butcher block since we first moved in and it’s finally happening.
And this makes me curious about you: If you could change anything in your kitchen, what would it be?
I'd love a real kitchen island. I use a stainless steel prep table for this but dream of an island someday!
What a great question. We updated our kitchen nearly 10 years ago. I would love more space to have a pantry or large cupboard similar to what we had before. However, the cupboard was replaced with a much more manageable drop down oven with cupboards above and below.
