We have been parked next to friends for three weeks now and we eat dinner together almost every night. It’s been wonderful and has me thinking about all the people I’d love to have dinner with.
So that’s this week’s question: If you could invite anyone for dinner, who would it be?
There are plenty of people from the archives of history that I’d love to call back to the land of the living and sit them at my dinner table. But for the sake of this discussion, let’s confine our answers to people who are alive today. Out of every living person in the world today, who would you invite to dinner?
This is something I have often considered. Initially, I thought chefs I admire. But then, I would be so terrified to serve them anything!
Sometimes I think historians - Lucy Wolsey is always up there. Such a fascinating woman.
But lately - and forgive me, this is a bit cheesy - but it would be so awesome to get all the fellow food writers I've been chatting to on Substack together. We could each bring a dish!!
I would invite a particular friend of mine whom I haven't seen in person in over a decade, who is going through a tough time right now. I wish I could give her a hug and feed her something nice.
If we're able to just snap our fingers and have guests magically appear, with no $$$ plane tickets or calendar conflicts, I would also invite my cousins, my half-sibling, and a couple of other childhood friends who are scattered to the four winds.
