I LOVED reading this Lolly! What a delightful peak into your delightful life. Also, I agree with you about being able to have everything you need in a tiny kitchen with a couple of space tricks. :-)

Thanks for reading, Rachel! I love that we get to share our kitchens from so far away. I feel like we've had tea together around the kitchen table. Such a wonderful idea that Lynn had!

Oh how much I love this! That view from your window is so pretty. Lake Como has been on my bucket list for so many years. A friend traveled there years ago and shared photos with me (actual printed photos, so you know that's going way back, lol) and it looked like a dream. Thanks for sharing your kitchen and the stories that go with it.

*Sighs longingly. Thank you, Lolly, for letting us have a peak of your sweet Italian life.

Thank you for reading! It is sweet and rainy right now. A good time to make broth! Are you really making the steak with compound butter for Valentines??

Oh my goodness! You read my piece. That's very flattering, but no, that was from last year and merely a reposting. This year, I am catering a Middle Eastern feast for 6 elderly, but very feisty widows. There will be at least a dozen different mezze on the table for them to munch as they gab. It will be wonderful to watch them as they laugh all night long.

I LOVED this Lolly.

As the expression goes ‘if you can dream it you can do it’, and doing it you are! You are a beautiful inspirational woman, that your lucky son of yours certainly has the best mama !

I salute you.

I am going to try to implement some of that clever vertical storage you have so cleverly mastered in your kitchen.

I have not read Marie Kondo. I will!

Curious to hear what you think!

Thank you so much, Sheryl!! We can both thank the incredible Marie Kondo for that vertical storage trick! Did you read her book? It's such a game changer - especially on my pasta shelf :-)

What a great kitchen and what a great outlook on life, I love this! Also a big Giulia fan. Cucina Porva is one of my most favorite recent books.

What a fun park inside your quaint kitchen - and charmed life!

What? Did I accidentally leave out the 5 year divorce in the Italian court system? ;-)

1) that should have been “peak” not “park.” 🙄 2) Knowing what I do of Italians and their passione 🤌 I can only imagine how emotional it was!

It's many years since I visited Lake Como. I understand completely your 'I can't believe I get to live here' moments. Thank you for sharing your view and kitchen life. It's cime di rapa season here in the UK too. I've cooked it twice this week, so delicious. Como is on my long list of places to visit for the December Christmas market. One day!

It’s amazing what gets done in a tiny kitchen! Love that yours is modern. The pass to the dining room is fabulous, and a view!

Thank you for seeing it the way I see it, Judy! Modern is so much easier to clean than some of the old kitchens I had before. You’re so right! And I never stop looking at the mountains. It’s my dream come true!! Have you been to Lake Como?

Expand full comment

I have been around Como! I worked with a chocolate school and we spent time up in Lecco studying at ICAM. I also have taken friends to Bellaggio.

Don’t remember actually stopping in Como.
