First, thanks All for the comments on my About page. In another day or so, I’ll have edits fully integrated.
I’m also doing the daily Notes Boost with Sarah Fay. Like Rebecca, I’m noticing daily, steady increases in both followers and subscribers.
I also just finished a 5-week workshop with Sarah. It was a literal firehose of info on every step of building our Stacks. To be honest, there was so much info each Friday, it took watching the replay to take it all in.
I hope I can impart some things of value to others from her workshop.
Did everyone notice Sarah’s 10-minute video that posted yesterday entitled “How to Write or Revamp Your Substack About Page to Draw Subscribers?”
I assumed it was a public post. If not, perhaps one of us who subscribes could offer a synopsis…
I watched it! One of the thing she brought up is that the very process of writing our about pages can help us flesh out what we are doing here. Her feeling is that to grow your paid subscribers, it's important to get really clear about who you are. Here's a quote: "Creating an About page that reveals your Substack’s value will help you start to value it and show up like a pro, which will help you grow and earn an income."
I just read your revised page and first of all, that photo of you at the top is fabulous! I love all the changes you've made and, more importantly, am glad to hear that you feel like the page better expresses what you want to do there. I'm excited to follow along! You live in one of my favorite parts of the world!
Thank you for being there Marisa, and for jumping right into the hot seat! I am so glad that other food writers here on Substack are interested in participating!
Thanks Rebecca! Loved the format today, thought it went well. I'm also grateful for any feeback or suggestions on my About Us https://loriosterberg.substack.com/about Thanks everyone!
I love it Lori! My only suggestion would be to start with the bulleted list and then follow with the paragraphs about roots. You have several statements in the bulleted list that really grabbed me. I feel like leading with that and then supporting it with the paragraphs about roots might be a better flow.
I would also bold the text on the first part of each point: Your body is a garden, Simplicity is the secret ingredient, In a world of fast food, be a slow dance, etc.
Also, perhaps you could link to some of the books you've written in your bio at the bottom of the post?
Thank you for hosting Rebecca! Great to meet and talk with other great writers.

One more quote that I love, "The right/wrong thing has nothing to do with how it looks but what it does for you in the writing of it."
Rebecca, that last quote is on target. My partner, @paulcaloca1, just did a complete revision of his page that aligns with Robert Reich’s in style.
I did a thorough revision, as well, adding more language that was ‘subscriber-benefitted’, and embellishing my own experience secondarily.
I added additional photos, as well.
We both have exactly that feeling of having written something that feels empowering. So happy with the results. Thanks again for the critique.
I’m happy to help others…

Thanks for doing this Rebecca!! I was there too - although I came in late!
Rachel! I knew I was forgetting someone! Adding your name to the list now. ❤️
