I rent and have a decent amount of counter space for an NYC apartment. The problem is that the sink is right in the middle of it, cutting the whole thing off into two smaller and awkward spaces. I would move the sink to one end or the other to have a larger, uninterrupted work area.
I just did! I painted the cabinets and switched out (loathed) black granite for quartz. I wouldn't mind a few more feet in terms of depth of the space.....and a second oven.
Would love to gut my current one and design a new one! Mine was built in the 80s and has some awkward corner cabinets that are wasted space. So I’m with Ruth, would love a complete update! On the dream list: center island, functional cabinets engineered for aging owners (lol, I’m realistic), double oven, and can it also be pretty, too?
I basically need a new kitchen. It’s terribly dated, even though there are aspects of it that I love—like my industrial size Garland stove. Like others, I’d love a center island with storage space underneath. I’d also like a non-wood floor (slate or tile maybe), better lighting, and a completely new system of pull-out storage that makes sense (unlike the jumble I have at the moment). Thanks for a question that now puts me in the mood to redo my entire kitchen—if I could find the will and the cash!
I love my kitchen. It's my happy place! It's quite big, light and bright. I would always love more storage - it can be tricky juggling a family kitchen with a home bakery, particularly as my kit & tools expand.
I’m drooling over the espresso stained butcher block countertops! 😍
We live in an old condo that needs a lot of TLC, especially the kitchen. We are also not DIY’ers. I’d love to have a project manager come in, analyze, choose, and execute the renovation. I get so overwhelmed.
Our current kitchen is the largest and most updated kitchen I’ve ever had, so I don’t have too many complaints… but if the shelves and cabinets could have racks that slide out so that I don’t have to fully fit my torso inside to dig something out that would be greeeaaat (think Lundberg from ‘Office Space’)
I updated my kitchen in 2020. The home was built in 1968 so there was much to do to bring it up to date. My kitchen was gutted, new flooring replacing the linoleum, new cabinets which gave me more space and organization, new appliances and a nice 8 foot island with storage underneath. I absolutely love it. It is a lot more functional.
What a great question. We updated our kitchen nearly 10 years ago. I would love more space to have a pantry or large cupboard similar to what we had before. However, the cupboard was replaced with a much more manageable drop down oven with cupboards above and below.
I had a fairly large kitchen in our last house, with a long island. When we moved, the new kitchen is smaller (and more efficient) without an island. I too am team stainless table...and a full size speed rack for both storage and a place for the sheet trays to either cool, or wait their turn for the oven.
I inhabit two worlds and two kitchens, in Maine and Arizona. This has been my dream, too, for years and I finally realize that I will likely never have an island in my kitchen but I do have a kitchen on an island.

My kingdom for a dishwasher.

Will you be cutting on this Butcher Block?

Ps. Loving the sound of those espresso stained butcher block countertops! I hope your renovation goes well

I would love more space for cooling racks!
hahaha omg there is so much truth to this statement

To one day, again, have a double oven.
More plugs! Enjoy your kitchen!
I'd love a real kitchen island. I use a stainless steel prep table for this but dream of an island someday!

Haha I think I'd take a kitchen in an island over an island in a kitchen any day! Those are woefully rare in Kansas 🫠
